About Aleena Qasim
Aleena Qasim is a 21-year-old woman living in Canada. Qasim has lived in Canada all her life and her family originates from Pakistan.
In Aleena Qasim's free time, she enjoys cooking dishes from her home country and baking sweets. Aleena Qasim also loves painting landscape and following Bob Ross’s painting tutorials. Despite how busy our lives get, Qasim thinks it’s really important to find an outlet for your creativity and this is one of the biggest problems in our generation: We never have any free time to truly do the things we love. Many people find that they do not have much of a life outside of work and school since these titles carry so much time consumption and responsibility. One thing that Aleena Qasim truly hopes is for us to be able to break away from a culture of overworking ourselves and be able to focus on our mental health and happiness.
Lastly, Qasim is very passionate about human rights and social justice issues across the globe. Aleena Qasim believes in decolonization and strongly supports the Landback movement, as well as the freedom of Palestine. Qasim is against military occupation which is observed in Wet’suwet’en territories, in Kashmir, and Falasteen. Additionally, Aleena Qasim is eager to fight against anti-Black racism which is an issue in all non-Black communities globally. As a South Asian woman, I believe none of our communities will ever be liberated without the liberation of Indigenous and Black communities.
